There are going to be allot of people who will theorize on this, but I am not going to theorize in regards to the cause. Rather, I am going to be honest, and say that additional information is needed, but it sounds like there may be some form of crosstalk, but I don't have enough information to provide a plausible answer. I understand all of the principals with electricity, modems, FSK, and phone. Not to mention, cold weather CAN affect a phone line connection.
