I didn't think this was a RAID board, and checking the specs
again, it's not. It evidently is like the Soyo SY-6BA+IV that
has 4 IDE ports. Highpoint Technologies makes ATA and RAID
controllers, and in this case it again is like the Soyo using
the HPT366 chip for the 2nd set of IDE controllers. But in
either case, the OS will boot from either ATA (Intel or HPT)
or RAID with no drivers (no way to install the drivers anyway
until the OS is loaded!) and will work OK in the OS with no
drivers. You'll just have a yellow ! or ? in the device
manager for the HPT controllers. Always check the
manufacturer's website for drivers.
http://www.abit-usa.com/products/mb/bp6/ I wouldn't update
the BIOS on the HPT controller unless you have problems. You
may find this site of additional help/info in the future.

I don't know if you've ever used this board before and
formatted a HD on it, but you can't hook the HD up to the HPT
ports and format it that way because the format utility will
not see the HD. Using the format utility built into win2k pro
can give you the same problems because when I tried it, the
same thing happened; it could not see the HD. If you want to
place the HD on the HPT port, it's much quicker to hook the HD
up to the PRI ATA port, format it, then hook it up to the HPT
port and then install the OS. Don't use the win2k floppy to
boot from, use the CDROM and set the BIOS to temporarily boot
from the CDROM. It's MUCH faster since the setup has to go
through all sorts of drivers to start the setup, and of course
a CDROM drive is much faster than loading it off the floppy
boot disk.

I do not know if anyone can help but here it is. I have the
above mentioned
mother board in for reload of windows 2000 pro. This Board
comes with 4 IDE
Ports for a total of 8 IDE devices. As far as I can tell it is
not raid. Any
way I need the drivers for the second 4 IDE ports and I can
not find them
anywhere. Does anyone have a suggestion..rich
