Sue,

I am using DSL with Earthlink and personally have not had any problem
with getting things to work from the very start. Friends of mine have
been using ATT (now ComCast it would seem) for internet cable
connections and likewise have not had any problems. With regard to
rounter and other networking equipment, I have used NetGear as well as
D-Link and some of the other major brands.

Have you tried talking to Cox, your cable provider - there might be some
issues that you need to be aware of that you might not currently be
knowledgable about, things that could involve connection or other
similar issues??? In many cases, it turns out the ISP ends up needing to
give info to the customer that normally might not be specified
otherwise.
