Sheila, all the entries found in your hosts file will direct your browser
back to you if the entries are preceded by your own address which is
127.0.0.1. It can be a very effective ad and spam filter. Web servers rely
on it everyday safely and securely.

A good example of such a Hosts file is here http://everythingisnt.com/Hosts
and you can read more about the Hosts file here
http://www.everythingisnt.com/hosts.html

To make changes to your Hosts file you must change the preferences in it's
properties from read only. When saving the changed file remember to save it
under the type of "all files".
