Well that would probably take care of the cable issue, as well as USB
driver issue, and LPT transfer modes!  Hopefully removing the old drivers
and installing updated ones will work.  When this happens, what happens in
the device manager, do any yellow marks show up?  I don't see your original
post below, so I can't re-check your original problem again.

I personally have never heard of that before, but have you done the obvious
like try the latest drivers and a different cable?  Is it USB or parallel
port?
