I have an HP PhotoSmart P1000 printer with Win98 and it used to do the exact same thing. I took it in to have it checked and they said it had to be in the software because they couldn't find anything wrong. I called HP's tech support and they had no clue and walked me through a number of different things with no luck. I finally figured out that it did it most often when I disconnected from the internet while doing something else (it's been long enough that I don't remember what). I have had very little trouble since changing my habits and my ISP, I'm not sure which was the culprit. Now it happens very very seldom. I had Qwest and now have a smaller provider. I don't know if this will help or not. Good luck. Cindy
Good morning List I'm running Win98 with an HP PhotoSmart P1100 printer. As long as I've had this printer I've had a problem with loosing the connection to the printer. It happens randomly, with no warning. Sometimes it happens in the middle of a printing job and other times when the computer is just sitting idly with no jobs pending or even any computing being done. Out of the blue a window will pop up notifying me that the computer has lost the connection with the printer. When that happens a little yellow triangular icon appears in the task tray. I used to be able to click on that icon and it would do a "search" for the printer and reconnect. Now, it states it couldn't find the connection. The only way I can get the printer back online is to reboot. I couldn't find anything specific to this in the HP tech help site. Any ideas? TIA Artificial intelligence is no match for natural stupidity. ============= PCWorks Mailing List ================= Don't see your post?
