Good morning, all. Gremlins have struck again! When I got in this morning I was greeted by an error message window that stated, "Virus data files are missing - unable to scan downloaded file". When I deleted that window, another popped up stating, "Virus definition files are corrupted - Please re-install the product".
I have my AV program set to automatically ugrade my DAT files once per week at 2:00 AM. I'm assuming that the problem arose when the computer tried to update. I've tried to upgrade manually and it won't download the programs. The same windows pop up again. I even tried uninstalling my McAfee AV program for a re-install but I get a "Illegal Proceedure" window and it shuts down preventing an uninstall. I'm running IE 6.0 on Win 98. When I access the AV System it says that the system scanner is disabled but it won't let me enable it. Does this window pertain to the DAT files only or is the entire AV system messed up. Thanks for any help you can give. Rick Gillespie, DC ============= PCWorks Mailing List ================= Don't see your post?
