Bob, as far as the text changing colors, that's dependent upon
two things: the hover color the webmaster has set and the hover
color the user has set in their browser options. For the links
not opening and what they describe, that behavior sounds like
they have a PopUp stopper active. If not, also have them right
click the links and "copy shortcut" and paste it somewhere to
see if it's a typical http link, or a JavaScript link. If the
later, they could have a JavaScript problem. That type of link
will have "javascript" in it, parenthesis, colons, odd things
like that. Sometimes it can be a non JavaScript popup and the
URL will look normal when you paste it, but in the HTML code of
the page for the link you will see something like this:
<a href="/whateverPageOrDirectory/pageName.html"onClick =
"window.open('/whateverPageOrDirectory/pageName.html',null,'res
izable=yes,scrollbars=yes,max=no,width=400,height=400, top=50,
left=100 status=no'); return false">
...those will also exhibit odd behavior if any kind of popup
blocker is being used. You don't say what browser type they
are using, so you need to state that if what I suggest isn't
the problem. It would also be a good idea to post some of the
webpages he is referencing, since I no longer have the URL for
the authorized Toshiba service center site.
One last thing, it could be just a screwed up site. After they
click a link and nothing happens, look in the address bar and
see if a "#" has been added to the end of the URL. This means
the link was a local http call, meaning an href tag within a
page to define an area within the same page and they didn't
define it correctly.
BTW, it's "hyperlink", "hypertext" is just the language (HTML =
HyperText Markup Language).
