I changed my XP Home computer to XP Pro recently, and transferred the Home O/S to my older computer, and it was quite painless. I called MS, who had me buy an XP Pro disc which I installed and registered as usual. When I installed XP Home there was a screen with a number to call, and a very nice computer carefully read me a very long number which then activated XP Home. I had anticipated great difficulties with this procedure and was very pleasantly surprised. I don't know what arrangement you made with the person who bought the laptop, but I suspect they will have insurmountable problems if they ever need to reinstall the O/S, and this could cause some ill-will unless it was made very clear that the O/S was not included in the deal. **************************************************************************** *****************************************
I registered the product with Microsoft as required with the product a half of year ago. I just recently sold the labtop but I still have the Win XP software. Now that I used it for a while on the labtop I feel I can be safe to use it on my home PC. My question is if I install it on my home PC will I have to repurchase the product again to register it on my home PC? Does any one know if I will have a problem when I install it on my PC and register it with Microsoft as required to run the product? Or can I just install it on my home PC and register it and not expect a problem registering the product? ============= PCWorks Mailing List ================= Don't see your post?
