Clint; Thanks for the idea on the hosts file. I checked it, and somehow, the IP address for MSN was in there, and after removing it, I got to the correct site.
I've checked everything else in IE, but still have not been able to correct the other issue as far as being blocked from downloading certain files. Strange thing is, it appears that I can download from maybe 25% of the places I try now, but still get blocked at places like Adobe (Acrobat Reader), Norton (AV Updates), some theme sites, and even some government sites I've tried. So it doesn't seem to be limited to any "security" type download. In other words, I would expect to not be able to access a place like Norton if infected with something, as part of the v*rus. But it's just the download part. But then I go to some other random site, with nothing to do with security threats, etc. and it still limits me. I'm trying everything you suggested, and a few others as they pop into my head. Rather than resetting my IE settings back to default (to prevent additional problems), I'm trying to add specific sites into the trusted zone, which is set to low to see if the settings under "internet" is affecting it.
