Do not worry about DOS Under Windows, run msconfig, go to "advanced" , check "limit memory to 512MB" and you're set. Jorge

To one and all,
Am trying to figure out if there is a way, using EMM386 or similar in dos, which will limit a system for Dos or Win98 boot to just 512 Meg of ram when there is 1 Gig of ram on the system, for a WinXP boot.
What I found is the MS writings for system.ini with regard to emm386 and vcache settings do not work worth a hill of beans, so had to currently set physical ram to 512 Megs of ram - so the wondering if there is a way using EMM386 or similar to limit the amount of ram that can actually be seen/worked with in a system to only 512 Megs when there is 1 Gig actually present???
