Curly quotes (I Googled it) seem to be one of those typographer's preferences that set the "Amateur" apart from the pro. It's about appearances. Since it's a dfferent ASCII code, HTML doesn't recognize it when quotes are called for. Good for my humility quotient-I had no idea... *************************************************
First I'll repeat my follow-up QUESTION ... what's the purpose of having two different kinds of quotes: curly quotes (or smart quotes) and straight quotes?
