Ok, now if we can only find where that specific ~563k user32.dll came from. (BTW, I found the latest version to download). I just posted this in response to Keith:
Ok, I found it in the SP1 file after unpacking it as only user32. For some reason, is has no extension, that's why I couldn't find it before. Properties show it as a "DL_ File" but don't give the version and the size is 260k. I forgot about extensions on the CD being truncated sometimes so I searched my XP CD w/SP2 slipstreamed on it and I found it, but there it's still way less than 563k, only 257k. The version I have on my PC now is 563k, and that's the one I was finally able to find online and download it, then replace it. It doesn't say which version it is on the CD or in SP1, but it's obviously a different version that what I have installed since what I have installed is a different size. I searched again the installed updates for SP2 for just "user32" and NOTHING was found. So, I'm still left wondering where this 563k version of this file comes from. I only found the 260k version on SP1, then the smaller 257k version on the XP/SP2 CD. I can't be installed by some 3rd party software because I wouldn't have been able to find the exact file I originally had on my HD from some DLL website. (I was having user32.dll crashes related to open IE windows, so I thought I'd see what would happen if I replaced the file). -Clint Happy New Year to all & God Bless Clint Hamilton, Owner http://OrpheusComputing.com ) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Vern" > Can anyone tell me please where the heck user32.dll comes > from? > How did it get on my HD?
