It's amazing how two years after the "duplicate files" question interested me, I totally forgot I asked it; what's worse, totally forgot what I was told; and again it occurred to me as a problem. What do they say about teaching old dogs?
This time, I'll study the problem more carefully, and taking Hugh's advice, use it as a launching pad for more computer skill growth so that one of these days, "oh yeah" Btw, Hugh, that updated version of Easy Cleaner is beautiful; no more 14 hours waiting to see the full list of duplicates. In addition, it offers many other features. As a backup (using "backup" in a different sense now), I also use RegCleaner; what Easy Cleaner misses, RegCleaner picks up. Suggestion for anyone using RegCleaner: In options, make everything "manual" (two places to check that) --- first time I used it, I checked "automatic" and maybe it was a freak occurance, but in the Registry, I lost the entire list of programs in the computer. Imagine, the *entire list* --- have to laugh when I think about it. Hasn't happened since. And regarding John, I nominate him to be Recording Secretary of PCWorks and Royal Keeper of the Archives . it's amazing how he pulled that 2 year old issue out of it .
