Cindy, open My Computer and click the Folders icon on the toolbar to have the tree view.

There is a number of third party apps that work like the previous windows explorer.

Incidentally, windows explorer was dropped in favour of Internet Explorer, so the web browser is also the file browser which may be good for users but is bad for security.

I don't use M$ office, perhaps Linda is still around lurking? She would know what to do. Or you could try her site here http://personal-computer-tutor.com/library.htm

I am still trying to learn to use XP (not sure I like it though) and was
wondering if there is something comparable to Windows Explorer in XP so you
can see your files in a tree type format? I have yet to find it and it makes
working with some of this stuff ungainly. Also, is there anyway to get
something like the Office Toolbar in Office 2003? I used that a lot in Office
98 and really miss it.

Thanks,
Cindy
