Hi Larry,
I wonder if you did a complete reformat and reinstall of Windows XP. I think you may have a system file conflict. Just reinstalling XP over an existing troublesome installation may not get rid of the conflicting system file. I would check with the maker of the Road Atlas program, see if there are any updates that fix this problem. If you get no help there then do a complete reformat and a clean install of XP. Be sure you have all your Laptop's drivers available before doing this and back up all the important data a removable disc. Laptop drivers are very product specific and can be hard to find without the original driver disk.

I have a compaq 2190, celeron2400, 512 ram, win XP.
it seems to work fine, except.
I used to run a map program, road atlas, and it worked fine, one day the program just wouldnt run, it gave a error message and wanted to report it to MS.
I uninstalled, reinstalled, still the same error, so i even re-installed XP, but still get the same error. i even tried another copy of the atlas.
can something happen to a mother board, that would allow other programs to run but not a particular one?
thank you,
Larry
