Peter, It is a Logitech and I do have the ps/2 which is green, (indicating mouse connection) plugged in but it still will not advance the selection up to Safe Mode. The only way I can get to the Safe Mode Screen is to turn the power off right at the point Windows is going to load. The reason I am going thru this is that somehow my Visioneer Paperport scanner started to act up. It was scanning things in a magnify mode so I decided to deinstall and reinstall. During this process the Scanner orig disc started acting funny in that it will not load now. It comes up with can't find MicroSoft Installer! They, (Visioneer) tell me that I have to get into safe mode and then go to start>Run> then type in"msiexec/regserver">reboot and all is well again.
and so continues the saga- - - - - - -
Thanks for your input.

Larry, what brand of keyboard do you have, MS or Logitech?

Does your receiver have both usb and ps/2 plugs? If it does then be sure
to plug in both of these then try to access safe mode, it should work.

An additional comment to my last is that the reset button does not
work for me and I was punching all I could when it did come up with
the safe mode option. Guess what I could not get my keyboard to allow
me to choose the safe mode on the screen so the clock just clicked
away and it started normally.
Unfortunately I do not have a wired keyboard.

There is a point where my Logitech keyboard doesn't work in the
windows boot
process. I don't know why. It works on the bios screens but then isn't
functional until I get into windows. Plug in a real keyboard. Another way
would be to hit the reset after windows starts to boot. On the reboot it
will take you to a screen that lets you select safe mode and other
options.

Subject: PCWorks: XP in Safe Mode?

I have been trying to start in safe mode and for some reason it just
goes to windows, like it or not. I go to startturnoff computerTurn off
then I turn the computer back on and when I see the first sign of light
on the screen I start hitting F8. It just goes to Windows. I am using a
Logitech wireless keyboard and I wonder if that makes a difference? It
has a F-Lock on it and I have tried it both ways, with the light out and
with the light on, no difference. I went to help on the computer and
their terminology is even different. They say Click Shut Down, well
there is no "shut down".

Thanks
