I have finally found a solution to this problem and thought you might
like to know.
The original problem was installing Nero suite version 7.5.7.0 which I
downloaded several time from the internet. After installing my problem
was that I could not read any kind of disc as I would get an error of
"unexpected DVD error". I did not try any other functions. This was on a
friends computer.
I then tried to using my computer which also had Nero on it but with
version 7.2.3.2b and it worked just fine. I then upgraded my Nero to the
version above and got the very same error message.
I loaded my Nero 7.2.3.2b on my friends computer and it worked as
expected. Just fine.
I have notified Nero about these facts and have not heard a word from
them so far 3 days.
Thanks for all your help.

Hugh, I have been on the support email route with nero which takes
several days to get a reply. Anyway they have looked at the info tool
and their last effort was deinstall and reinstall after updating
drivers. This did not work either.
I can look at info tool but it would not mean much to me.
I checked the info tool and did not find any ASPI listings. I can see
the interface ok. Lots of drives and the two recorders.
I'd be happy to screen print it.

Try running the Nero info tool and see what's listed for specs.
Pay particular attention to the interface and ASPI listings.

I have been working on installing Nero 7 on a friends HP zv5000 with
no success at all. I have two CD units in the machine one is built in
and the other is USB called an EZ-Dub. After installing Nero and
inserting a disc I get a message that an "unexpected CD error". This
happens on both players. I have updated all drivers from the mfg
websites. I have done everything Nero has asked to no avail.(by the
way the DVD/CD play just fine in Windows media player.)
My question is what other CD/DVD software do you recommend that will
do what Nero does?
Thanks
