Hi Frank,
yes, "tendency mask" is definitely what I'm after, however I would like
to graphically create the mask rather than work with lists. The main
problem I'm trying to solve is how to set up a table GUI with two
adjustable lines in it. Ideas anyone?

Just curious if anyone else has tried this before I have a go:
A table in which I can make an arbitrary number of breakpoints, for both
the top and bottom part of the range. See attached image for clarity.
The idea is that I can use the top set of breakpoints as the upper limit
of a random range, and the bottom set as the lower limit.
This is also called a "tendency mask" in the computer music literature. Attached
is a realisation I once did. You specify the two tendencies as lists.
