I consequently changed the default optimization scheme for OSX to -O2 in the

i read somewhere, that gcc-4.2 was one of the most buggy gcc releases
and the branch was closed with over 100 p1 regressions. neither 4.3 nor
4.4 has any open p1 regression ...
