Thanks. As I said, I did download a package that was supposed to be the required version of lame, but I wasn't able to install it. I'll try this one, though; it seems to be a different version of the package (the name is different, anyway). I couldn't care less about the patent issue, I'm not even interested in making mp3 files, I just want to install it because it seems to be required by pd-extended.
