There is a GPIO pi zero soundcard to be released soon by an Australian company called Audio Injector:
http://www.audioinjector.net/rpi-shop I have used their stereo card on my PI2 & 3 with great results. . . very low latency (below 4ms!). Also they have a 16 channel card (8in/8out) which is very tempting.
