The "--universal" switch didn't work on this VM: the compiler fails to
build the test program at the beginning.
Anyway I'm leaving this VM in peace as I don't want to screw it up. I
only use it to build a couple of externals.

I had run:

on a VM [macOS 10.15.7] using QEMU on a Debian10 machine.
