A lot depends on how the pdf file was created.  If it was scanned in, it's not easy to convert it to Word unless you have a scanner, in which case you can print the pdf file and then scan it through to Word.  If the pdf file was created from a word processing package, you can use the Text Select tool on the toolbar to drag around the text, right-click and copy -- go to Word and then paste.  Unfortunately this only allows you to take a page at a time.  Hope this helps!
