You're not specific about what 6 digit number you need to replace but another suggestion is if you have the source word document to NOT put in the 6 digit number you have to change and and then use a tool such as Compose http://www.infodata.com/products_compose-desktop.html to create a stamp or overlay on one or a batch of files (you said 100 a day).   This or some other plug in that does batch overlays might be the answer you're looking for. The changes would be minor. I have to insert an identification page to nearly 100 pdfs a day. I only have to edit a 6 digit number. It appears in two places on the page. To edit it in Word and then convert it into a pdf 100 times a day is exactly what I am trying to avoid. We had a page that I was able to edit until recently when my employer decided it was time for a change in the page's look. I was sent the new style in a Word document. I converted it into a pdf but it seems to be just an image and not edit friendly. There is a built-in text touch-up tool, but it is very limited. Those who need better editing capabilities can purchase Pitstop (www.enfocus.com) which provides extended editing capabilities. It also costs dearly...I think it's around $500.00. The best advice is the simplest and the cheapest. Whenever possible, always make changes to your original document, and make a new PDF.
