It really doesn't matter which OS he's on.

This is a matter of using design skills and techniques to make something look good. Word processing programs have their limitations, but if someone knows what tools are available, and how to use them, a lot can be done to enhance ordinary looking documents.

Professional page layout programs are not only expensive, but there is a big learning curve that is unnecessary for "most" business documents.

I'd suggest obtaining a book on how to use Word as a desktop publishing tool. Here's a link:

Rich,

So we can give you relevant information, please let us know your Platform (i.e. Mac/PC) Operating System, and version of Word that you are using. Other programs that you can use to make professional looking documents are layout programs QuarkXpress and InDesign as well as WordPerfect. If you want to create documents that have backgrounds and/or slideshow like features, look to PowerPoint.

Hello,

This is my first post to the list and I would like to introduce myself and also that I have a question about PDF Documents.  I am currently living in Northern Iraq and I work for Kellogg, Brown & Root as a Security Coordinator.  I have several reports that I write and I am very interested in finding out a way to make my reports especially my Daily Iraq Security Report look a little more professional.

I am currently using Professional 6.0 PDF Creator, which I do use a lot to convert MS Word Doc to PDF files.  I am just curious is there another program that will enhance a better looking document to send out.
