Acrobat 6 will allow you to save from PDF 1.5 all the way down to 1.2, so there is no reason not to upgrade and use the program. The horror stories are nowhere near as bad as those with Acrobat 4. That, however, is simply one man's opinion: mine. As a web site developer and to reach the vast market of third world countries, I will still develop in Acrobat 4.0 (PDF 1.3) for those unfortunate not to have broadband connections and super fast equipment. It is those with vintage modems and computers with 14 and 15-in monitors that still pay the bills here. With all the horror stories (bugs) surrounding Acrobat 5 and 6, large bloated files and other problems, I am hesitant to upgrade. You are quite right, I will uninstall Reader 6.0 and everything may be back to normal. For those developers that make it 6.0 or else, my hat is off to them, they care not about those customers that keep us going. Thank you for the advice, it is well taken. Dov Isaacs of Adobe Systems, who has lurked on these lists for years, and who I have corresponded with for some time, provided a very stern and clear response. Don't have both Reader and Acrobat installed on one system, and don't have different versions of the programs installed concurrently. If I were you, I'd pop for the $149.00 to upgrade Acrobat 4.x to 6.x pro, I'd deinstall both your current versions, and see if the problem still persists. At the least, I would remove Reader 6. But then you are working with a five-year old program, which doesn't make any sense considering the advancements made over the course of time.
