Hello JRB,
as far as I can figure it out at this moment Acrobat on Windows makes GIFs
with a Standard color palette (mismatch trouble included), on a Mac it works
fine with JPG with all available colors (pse correct me if my theory is
wrong). My sample file was processed from Mac users without problems
(http://www.mxchg.de/test.pdf : delete/embed all thumbnails)
