InDesign supports direct creation of PDF files - use it!!!!

but the Distiller-created PDF files are always much smaller than those created by exporting, and so far I haven't found the
former to be inferior to the latter, as they are said to be.
They will be inferior if you use advanced features of ID such as hyperlinks, DeviceN colors, transparency, etc. because such things can't be properly represented in Postscript.
