Hyperlinks will not be preserved if you print to Distiller using the standard Print 
option.  Links are only preserved when you use an Adobe macro to process the file.  
Acrobat automatically adds a macro to Word, which you can access by clicking on the 
"Create Adobe PDF" button.  I'm not sure whether it does the same for Excel, however.  
Look for a button with a PDF icon on it.
Of course, if it's not available, you can always add the links later in Acrobat.
