I don't know if it will work for Publisher, but for Quark we use the free
PrinergyXT and the CreoDistillerAssistant (a prologue for Distiller) which
reads the proper color information into the Postscript and then interprets
it correctly when going to PDF. Fixes most problems with spot colors,
duotones, etc.
