Andy I'm pretty sure the first thing others will suggest is to print the word file as a ps document then distill it in Distiller. I've had to convert large Word documents into PDFs and that's been my best workaround. Looking forward to hearing other people's suggestions though. It's a fairly large file (3.4 MB) with few graphics and quite a few tables. When I try to convert this file (using Acrobat > Convert to Adobe PDF), the process runs for about 90 minutes or more and ultimately fails to produce a PDF. While this process is running, my PC displays all the usual progress indicators, and everything seems to be normal, except for the long processing time. Does anyone have any suggestions for solving this problem? I convert using the PrintOptimized setting. I'm running on a Windows 2000 PC with a 550 MHz processor (probably Pentium II), 256 kB of RAM, a 4 GB hard drive with approximately 600 MB of free space. My default printer in Word is an HP LaserJet 8000 Series PS.
