As Leonard pointed out, it seems to be a copywright issue. The same
thing happens to me. Luckily I was working in Illustrator, so I just
turned fonts into outlines.

If you have access to ZapfHumanist font, it looks the same as Optima.

Hi
We have rencently bought the Optima font, but when we convert a word
file (we are on Windows 2000) containing Optima to pdf we get an error
message saying that the file could not be converted because "Optima
cannot be embedded due to licensing restrictions".
We create a ps file by converting through our own printer then going
through a watched folder to create a pdf. Is the problem related to the
font itself not allowing it to be used in pdfs??
a setting within the printer??
a setting within the watched folder??
Can anyone please offer any help or advice for this problem??
Regards Lewis.
