Hi Leonard, Regarding your question (in answerto my question) about why I need to save in .AI (Illustrator format) is because my Client wants to save his PDF & Word Docs in that particular format which also permits saving different data like text, images, shading and borders on separate layers. This .AI output is meant to be finally imported into a Document Management software called HotDocs where data (like the text, for instance in particular) could be updated/changed if required when such a need arises.
There can be a workaround if I could find a software which could read each of this (text, images, shading and border) permitting me to save separately which can be imported later to Illustrator, I suppose. The final output has to be in Illustrator only with a separate layer for each of the diff types of data (i.e. text, images, shading and border) I hope this makes my need a bit more clearer to understand. I would greatly appreciate if you(anyone) could find a solution to my requirement (never mind even if it is a long step wise process involving more than one software package). Much obliged for your interest... I am not sure that I understand what you are looking for exactly. Conversion of the formats you listed to raster images (TIFF, JPEG, etc.) could be done by conversion to PDF and then PDF to raster... BUT I don't understand what a "layer-wise saving" is? And since the formats you listed are raster, where text, images, shadings and borders come into play. Can you please explain some more? > Please let me know if there's any software out there which exports >these things to Illustrator's format .AI in particular. Why would you want/need AI format? Are you talking about simple .ai, or do you need them to incorporate full "private data" as well??
