Hi folk

I have a genealogy program that has the Amyuni PDF generator built into it. Normally I use Acrobat but I am often asked to support users of that program.

That program has always allowed users to embed images and regardless of the original file format, the program converts the images to JPEG for storing in the file. That makes sense of course.

Now the Amyuni converter in the program does not have user options but does use JPG compression at the convertsion to PDF, presumably to further reduce the file size. Not surprisingly there is a user option "do not compress further in making the PDF" for those who do not want the smallest possible PDF file sizes.

No problem with that.

However the preference states "only for non-XP users".

The only explanation I can think of for that is that maybe the Amyuni doesn't further compress under XP. It doesn't seem logical that further compression would be useful for non-XP and not useful for XP.

I've tried some tests with that setting on XP and can't find any difference. Any ideas?

I should add that there are a couple of settings for the Amyuni but as soon as the genealogy program is opened it seems to reset the Amyuni settings to the default.
Regards
