Do these tools make sure that the subsetted font is coming from the same font variant installed on the system ? I.e. are they ensuring that e.g. the subsetted Times-Roman in the PDF file is the same Times-Roman on your system you are using to create extra text ? Otherwise you end up adding text using potential another font variant.
