I have a scanner. The software creates pdf files. I found out by accident recently these are no more than graphic files combined with a file extension of pdf. Something came up last week in which I needed to scan doc. The output file was so big & I was not happy with the file size. I recreated file with a word processor pgm. I do have a pgm that will convert any doc to pdf. But I don't understand why when I create a doc from a wordprocessor that the pdf file is much smaller than if it where scanned. I have played around with scanner & know about reducing DPI settings so file size is smaller & do it in black & white. But I don't understand why from a wordprocessor the output size is much smaller.
