I created a postscript file and distilled that, but I can't remember if I
used the actual Distiller printer or the generic postscript driver. Will
that make a difference?

Are you using the Distiller printer?

I tried that and they don't appear at any zoom. Nor are they there when I
print the PDF page.

Thanks.

If you view the document at an increased zoom, do they appear?

I encountered a strange problem last night when creating a pdf file with the
following:

Quark 4
Distiller/Acrobat 4
Windows 98 (please don't laugh)

I created the document myself. It consists of b&w tiffs, text, and rules
drawn in Quark. It is a custom-sized document. After postscripting &
distilling (with press settings) the document, two of the verticle rules on
the right side of the document did not appear in the PDF (they had appeared
in a low-res proof PDF I'd made earlier).

I went back to the Setup tab in the print dialog box and changed the Paper
Height from the actual paper height to automatic, which changed the page
positioning from center to left edge. (The paper width was set for the page
width both ways.) This was the only change I made and the verticle rules
reappeared.

Anyone with an explanation or idea? Should I just leave my page height to
automatic all the time?

Thanks.
