Recently, PC magazine did a comparison between OmniPage 14 pro and
AbbyFinereader Corporate ( I think it was the Corporate edition, it's the
equivalent to the OmniPage 14 pro). They liked the OmniPage 12 pro better,
and gave it slightly higher marks. Now I've been working on a project which
converts hundreds of pages of PDF tables to Excel at a time, and in my
testing of both products I have found the AbbyFinereader program did a much
better job. On average, with the OmniPage 14 pro, every 1 out of 6 pages had
an error, whereas the AbbyFinereader only had an error on average for every
1 out of 28 pages.

With the AbbyFinereader ( http://www.abbyy.com/ ) you can download a fully
functional copy for testing, whereas the download from
http://www.scansoft.com for the Omnipage product, has limited capabilities.

OmniPage 12 is probably the best bet for most OCR needs. Very accurate and
full featured. But, if you already have Acrobat 6 and don't need the
searchable text to be the actual text viewed on the page, then just use
'paper capture' as already suggested. It works and it's free!
