Subject: RE: [PDF] Enfocus pitstopPitstop is not cheap...it costs about $500.00. http://www.enfocus.com
It is a great tool for checking (and editing, modifying or repairing PDFs). As a creator, I don't have a use for it because I control the content of all the PDFs I make. However, if any organization has a number of people working on original content, or receives PDFs or materials from others, there is the high likelihood of original content problems in a PDF, such as: mixed color spaces, missing fonts, inadequate resolution, etc.
Pitstop will check a PDF based on a profile you select (i.e., press, screen, etc.). You can manually (or globally) change colors, you can make text edits, move objects, set overprint, etc. If you have only one or two people making PDFs, and they know what they are doing, and you don't place PDFs received from third parties, the expense may not be necessary.

Subject: [PDF] Enfocus pitstop
hi
Our company are now moving external printers who have recommended that we use Enfocus Pitstop before sending off our pdfs for printing. Is this the best tool for checking pdfs before sending to the printers?? what problems does it look for in a pdf that cannot be spotted by manual checking, I have read articles but would like advice from people who have actually worked with it?? one more question, where would be the best place to purchase a copy?
regards Lewis.
