Now that I've carefully read your original post, I have questions.

1. How do you install the QuickBooks driver? What happens when it won't install?

2. What is this unnamed other third-party PDF driver? Is this really a driver, or an application? Why won't it install, or what happens when you try to install it?

3. What error message do you get when you try to print a PDF?

4. You say you've checked the disk. Checked it how? What does this mean?

5. You repaired the registry? What was wrong with the registry? How did you repair it?

I've had problems with installing programs on Windows XP (several), and had no success with tech support from any of the vendors. The applications would not install because Windows locked the registry entries and only a portion of the application would install. I'm not going to go into too much detail here, because you could easily muck up your entire system by fooling with your registry. And, frankly, I don't want to be blamed for crashing your machine. But to give you a little heads-up, the problem was with HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, software, "name of application," permissions.

Is your Windows software up-to-date? I haven't had any problems installing software in many months now.

I'm a native Mac person, too, but I really like everything about Windows...except for the aforementioned problems I've had installing software.

Hope this helps.

Rich

Subject: [PDF] Problems with PDF driver on Windows XP

I'm not sure if anyone here can help me. I subscribed to this list a while back because I own the full version of Acrobat 6 Professional and I use it to create PDFs for output on my PowerMac G5. No problem.

But I also have a Windows XP box. It's what I use for contact and business management. I installed QuickBooks Pro the other day and I can't email invoices because the PDF driver built-in to QuickBooks won't install. Same with another 3rd party PDF driver I tried. I finally got it to install manually (via Add a Printer) following directions from Amyuni tech support but nothing will actually print. I can now see the driver in the list, but I get an error message when I try to create a document.

I have checked the disk and repaired the registry and I can't find the problem. I don't know what else to try.

Windows XP is not my first language, I've been a Mac user forever. Is anyone familiar with troubleshooting PDF driver issues in Windows and would be willing to drop me a line to help me figure this out? I'd appreciate it.
Intuit has "escalated" the issue and they say they'll call me back (after a very useless hour on the phone yesterday) but I'm not holding my breath.
