I love it when a plan comes together.

This lady (Judi) is incredible. We spent hours trying everything without success. Late on Friday night, Dov helped her install a PostScript printer, but it wouldn't run. Just when it looked like it was time to go on to something else, she found the solution. I am really impressed with her perserverance.

I've always respected Dov Isaacs (Adobe Systems). His participation on these lists is strictly voluntary, and on his own time. As far as I'm concerned, he deserves a big round of applause and a standing ovation. I'm standing and applauding. Are you? Thanks Dov for all that you do for the PDF world, and beyond.

As far as Judy goes, she can move on with her projects...knowing that she solved a problem that the rest of us were stumped by. She is relieved and proud, as she should be. I could only provide her with a clunky workaround. But I think that all of us who participate on these lists often provide support and guidance, even if we don't have the right answer.

I, too, have found a new friend.

Subject: [PDF] PDF Driver install WindowsXP: PROBLEM SOVLED

After 3 solid days of troubleshooting, restarting & hair pulling I have completely solved my PDF Driver installation issue under Windows XP that I posted about the other day.

I found the answer in an Adobe Acrobat technote, while Googling: "module could not be found" PDF

The technote:
http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/3099e.htm

The problem was in the System Path Variable. Where it should be:

%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\wbem

Mine was:

C:\Program
Files\Palm;%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem

How the Palm reference got in there, I have no idea. I backed up my files and removed the "C:\Program Files\Palm;" part of the path and prayers said, restarted.

On reboot, I was able to install the QuickBooks PDF Converter with no error whatsoever, and it works perfectly. I'm sure the other drivers would work too, but all I want to do is email invoices. I don't need to pay for the stand-alone PDF functionality on my PC that I have on my Mac. And my Palm synced as always so I have no idea if I need to put the Palm part back in the variable. We'll see.

I want to take this opportunity to thank Dov Isaacs and Rich Sprague for taking the time to email me privately to try and help me work through this issue. Rich was especially amazing. I may have lost a few days of my life trying to work this out <g> but I think I made a new friend so it was worth it. :-)
