First off, I am starting with a limited knowledge of the PDF specification but ...
I would like to create a PDF where I can easily insert a page so that the PDF can be configured properly.

i.e. when printed on a duplex printer make sure that some pages are always printed on the front by adding a blank page on the back of single sided pages.

and when printed on a simplex printer not print that blank page that strings out the print stream.

I know that having the script within the PDF making the determination about its print environment amd modifying itself may be too much to ask. But any guidance on building a stream reader and rewriter to input the standard PDF, find a comment of some sort, and insert a blank page in the output stream.

-- Environment --

PDF's created using Active PDF in VB.net

In house printing on HP 8000 and 9000 printers, and web printing via users browser and what-ever-printer-the-user-has.
