Correct. JPEG is the only file format that can be placed into a PDF w/o modification...

Well, the easiest way to do this is...


* Decode the GIF into a memory bitmap/raster image
        (obviously you'll need a GIF decoder for this)
* Write out that bitmap as an Image XObject (as you did for JPEG).

That will create a working PDF and image, though it will be bigger than necessary since you'll be going from an indexed image to a full color image.


Any sample objects would be much appreciated.


There are a number of other open source PDF generators that can handle GIF that would be a good place to start.
