AGREED!

Notwithstanding Leonard's entirely valid questions on this point, I agree that 
facilitating the sync-ing of Info keywords to the XMP data is highly desirable.

The change you suggest would represent a significant plus, and if Leonard's issues ARE 
addressed, I do not (until / unless Leonard shines light on my marble head) see a 
minus.

Myself, I would like to think that any metadata added to any Doc Info field could be 
generically understood to "be" full-fledged XMP metadata - by the regular user, 
anyhow.  It sounds like that's where you are going, and I applaud it!
