Yes. It's very plasticky and the cheapest feeling lens I own, but
optically it's very good.
I carry it when I go backpacking.

The adapter is just a 50mm extension tube from what I understand.
If you need the small size and light weight, either of them will do, I
would suspect. If weight and size isn't a concern, I'd save a few more
pennies and find a used 100/2.8, which seem to be plentiful and fairly
cheap on the used market...
