Why would anyone outside the US buy a MZ-5n when they could buy a MZ-3? All Pentax
needs to do is market the MZ-3 in the US. No new model needed.

It seems absurd to me that Pentax would discontinue this camera without
something for this segment, so I don't think that will happen. Which means,
either:

1) The new MZ-S will be a LOT cheaper than we initially thought (unlikely).
Or,
2) There is a new model yet to be released that is coming soon, with some
upgrades to fit it between the MZ5N and the MZ-S (quite possible). Or,
3) Some of the new parts from the MZ-S will find their way into the MZ5N,
and it will become the MZ5N Super (possible). Or,
4) Pentax is now marketing strictly to pros and novices - nothing in
between (very unlikely). Or,
5) Someone was misinformed (quite possible).

Feel free to add other possibilities I may have overlooked. In any case, I
wouldn't fret over it's demise.

Thanks,
Ed
