Hi Frankie,
I own the Sigma 28/1.8 manual focus. I think it is the older version, not the
II one.
For the kind of work I do with it, it satisfies me. I tend to use it wide open
for most of the time.
If you are planning to do available light shots you'll be pleased with it.
Otherwise, I cannot state to buy it anyway. It is rather heavy and huge, at
least compared to a 28/2.8 (I only have the KA version, but I think the FA it
is not so different). It also shows a visible distorsion with close subjects
and has little flare problems (it's better to leave the hood on).
It is very well built, like other Sigma lenses of its period (mine has fallen
down a stone stairway without noticeable effects - it had the hood reverse
mounted, tough) with the exception of the focusing ring, become loose after a
couple of years of -intense- use.
