I pretty much agree with what Pal says, though I'm less disappointed
with wide-open performance than him. Guess I'm in Aaron's camp on this
one - sharpness isn't everything.
Anyway, I don't think you'll be disappointed optically with either. I
think you should make the decision on usage.
The 77 is small, light and very easy to handle. The 85 isn't, though it
feels pretty good on a pz-1p. I don't like the hood.
The 77 has a slightly higher max magnification.
The 85 is slightly faster, and seems to be optimized for portraits.
