I've actually had pretty good luck with PayPal -- it's been very convenient.
Not sure how they're enticing folks to sign up for their service now, but
when I signed up, you got $5 deposited to your account once you set it up.
I think they've either changed or discontinued that incentive, however. But
they now supposedly pay interest on your account balance.
If you want to delete your account, you can click on the "PROFILE" tab after
you log in, then click on "Close Account" in the menu on the left side of
the page. If you don't use your PayPal account, it probably would be a good
idea to close it.
